Does Canada have more people than Poland?
Yes. Canada has more people than Poland: about 41.7 million against 36.4 million (World Bank estimates for 2025), 1.1 times as many.
Canada has more people, but Poland is more crowded: 119 people per km² of land against 4.7.

Why it surprises
This pair is a good reminder that a population answer has a date. Canada is enormous and Poland is a mid-sized European country, yet until recently Poland had more people, and some quiz sites and fact lists still say so. That is no longer true. In the World Bank’s figures Poland was slightly ahead in 2019, with about 37.97 million people against Canada’s 37.62 million, but by 2020 Canada had moved in front, and by 2025 the gap had grown to about 41.7 million against 36.4 million. Over those years Canada’s population rose quickly while Poland’s slowly fell. In space, the two could hardly be more different: Canada has about 29 times as much land, with fewer than 5 people per km² against Poland’s 119.
