Bird house
Choose a colour. Fill its numbers. Watch a little picture grow.

Pick a picture
140 original pictures in three collections. A new one opens each day with the daily picture and stays open; the practice pictures are open any time. Small ones take a few minutes; large ones are an evening’s quiet colouring.
Practice pictures
Open any day, one from each size in every collection. They’re never a daily picture.

How it works
- Choose a colour
Every colour in the paint tray has a number, a name and a count of squares still to fill.
- Fill its numbers
Tap squares or drag across them. Only squares with that number fill, so there are no mistakes to rub out.
- Watch it grow
When the last square is in, the grid melts away and the picture is yours to keep as a PNG.
Calm colouring, one square at a time
Colour Garden is a guided pixel colouring site. The colours are chosen for you, so there is nothing to get wrong: you bring the patience and watch a robin, a teapot or a lighthouse appear square by square.
It works with a mouse, a finger or the keyboard, saves as you go, and keeps working offline for pictures you have opened. Grown-ups use it to unwind; families use it side by side.
Questions
Is Colour Garden free?
Yes. Every picture, the daily picture, hints and PNG downloads are free. There is no account, no sign-up and no advert.
How does colour by number work here?
Pick a numbered colour from the paint tray, then tap or drag across the squares showing that number. Right squares fill in and stay put; a square with a different number is left alone and tells you which colour it needs. Keep going until every square is coloured.
Can I make a mistake?
Not really. Only matching squares fill, so there is nothing to rub out. Undo takes back your last strokes if you change your mind about where you were going.
Is there a daily picture?
Yes. The daily picture changes at midnight UTC and is the same for everyone. Each picture opens on its daily day and stays open after that, so you can always catch up. The first 134 days (to Sunday 28 February) each bring a different original picture; after that, some days are encores of earlier pictures and are labelled as encores. Colour the daily on its day to build a streak.
Can I colour a picture before its day?
No. Pictures that are still to come say when they open, so everyone meets each daily picture on the same day. The 6 practice pictures are open any time, and every past daily stays open in the archive.
Does my progress save?
Yes, in this browser. Leave any time and the picture is exactly as you left it, including your recent undo steps. Nothing is uploaded and there is nothing to sign in to.
Can I download or print my picture?
Yes. When a picture is finished, choose Download PNG for a crisp image with 16 pixels for every square and a see-through background. Printing and sharing it for personal use is welcome.
Who makes the pictures?
All the pictures are original pixel drawings made for Colour Garden. The credits page lists how each one was made.
