Hugo invites friends to Tide Cottage every year on the twenty-seventh of December, to finish the leftovers. Ada, Basil and Kit were there this year. At teatime, the famous trifle, saved specially, is down to its last cherry.

What happened

In the larder, the trifle was finished off with the serving spoon.
