The Damp Kindling
On the shortest day of the year, Fernley walks up the hill to watch the sun set and light a small fire. Hugo, Edie and Basil all came along. When the sun goes down, the fire refuses to catch: everything is soaking.
What happened
At the summit cairn, the bundle of kindling was dipped in the stream.
