Playing Turn (anagrams) with a screen reader

Screen reader mode gives each word a text box: the scrambled letters are spoken one by one, you type your answer and press Enter, and you hear at once whether it fits. Ten words make a round; any word that uses all the letters and is in our word list counts.

Switch it on

Press the Screen reader mode button near the top of the game, use the switch in Settings, or open the game with ?sr=1 at the end of the address (open Turn in screen reader mode). It stays on for every No Fuss game on this device until you switch it off. In Settings you can also choose short or full spoken detail.

How the game is laid out

• Each word is shown as its scrambled letters, spelled out, with how many letters it has.
• Type the whole word in the answer box and press Enter. Letters a hint gives you are filled in at the start of the box and stay there.

Keys

Key	What it does
Type a word, then Enter	Check your answer. Only letters go in the box.
1	Say the letters again, one by one.
2	Shuffle the letters and say them.
3	Progress: which word you are on, how many are solved, and your score.
Escape	Clear the answer box.
Tab	Reach the buttons under the box: Letters, Shuffle, Progress, Skip word. Hint is in the toolbar above.

What you hear

• “Word 3 of 10. 6 letters: R, A, T, E, S, I.”
• “Right: SATIRE, 60 points. Word 4 of 10. 6 letters: …”
• “STARIE isn’t in our word list. The letters are R, A, T, E, S, I.”
• “Round complete: 9 of 10 words solved.”

On a phone or tablet

On a phone or tablet, the answer box opens the keyboard; type the word and press Return. The Letters, Shuffle, Progress, Skip and Hint buttons sit right under the box.
