How it works
- Write one answer and its clue per line, with a colon between them: “Kettle: It boils water for a hot drink”.
- The maker places the longest answers first and fits each next one where it crosses the most letters, keeping the grid compact.
- If an answer shares no letter with the others, it is left out and the maker says so. Add a linking word or press “New layout”.
- Press “Print / Save as PDF” for the puzzle, the clues and the solution page.
Questions
How many answers can I use?
Up to 30, each 2 to 15 letters long. Ten to twenty answers make a nicely linked grid on one page.
Why was one of my answers left out?
Every answer has to cross another one, so the grid stays in one piece. An answer is left out when none of its letters can cross a free spot. Words with common letters (E, A, R, S, T) link most easily.
Can answers have two words?
Yes. “Ice cream” goes into the grid as ICECREAM and the clue shows (3,5), as in newspaper crosswords.
Where do my words go?
Nowhere. The page makes your sheet on your own device; your words are never uploaded. Your settings are kept in the page address after the “#”, which browsers never send to a server. That’s also how “Copy link” works without an account.
